Weeding Made Easy

Weeds are real fun stuff that can give you lots of fun when used. Oh…wait, sorry. Guess we are talking about a different kind of weed here.

Garden weeds are a constant pain in the ass, literally and figuratively. They are literally a pain in the ass because you would need to pull them out of your lawn because they cause bad things to your lawn or plants. However you do have the option of leaving them on your lawn if you feel that they give a more decorative presence anyway.

Weeds are bad at your lawn because they compete for nutrients, light and water that your plant needs. They are like the bullies of the lawn here.

Having back problems doesn’t make things any easier, because whether you like it or not. Weeds need to be removed. Here are some tips to get rid of weeds easier.

• Prevent the weeds from spreading and seeding by immediately pulling them out when you see even the smallest weed out there. Just like people say, prevent things from getting worse by stopping it earlier.
• Get all the weeds out and it should include the root of the weeds.
• Don’t make the weeds grow older. Making the weeds grow older will make them establish root and make it tougher for you to pull them out. It’s hard to teach old dogs new tricks, in this case, old weeds are sure harder to pull.
• To make your job much easier, try to wet the ground. If it has just rained, take advantage of it by immediately going out and pulling the weeds while the ground is still wet.
• Tap roots are harder to pull out and would need a whole lot of style and technique. Pull the tap roots straight up and with little pressure on any side of the stem. Using a tool that has a small V –shape will also help. If there are lot tap root weeds out there, use a tool that has a long handle and it will extend the life of your back.
• There are weeds that have shallow invasive systems. These kinds of weeds require you to scrape out below the surface of the soil to get as much of the root system you can.
• Pour boiling water on weeds that appear on pavement cracks and decks to kill them.
• To remove the young weeds as they spring up on vegetable beds use a hoe or a 3-pronged cultivator.
• To prevent weeds from establishing learn to mulch between them.
• Don’t to be too freaked out about a few weeds. It’s amazing how good or long your back will be preserved when you just think there are no weeds out there.
