Starting A Garden

It is a quite a sight to see a beautiful landscape in those country clubs or a pretty garden of our neighbor. While all you have is a vast space of green lawn. You feel that you’re getting bored with the amount of green stuff that you are seeing daily. You are also getting tired of just mowing the lawn you have. Your neighbor on the other hand is having a wonderful time planting and watering those colorful flowers. What’s stopping from creating your own garden? This article will be a step by step guide on how to start your own garden.

Since you are new at this stuff, try to start out very small. Don’t immediately envision and plan those grandiose gardens you see on those clubs just to upstage your neighbor. Start with a small planter box in your window or plant a few plants in your lawn first. When you see that you have gotten the hang of it or have a green thumb, you may think about adding more. Try to put your garden in a place where you see it very often. This will motivate you to do more gardening. You’ll also have the experience of waiting in joy for the first bloom.

Try to learn more about the plants you do choose. You would need to check out what growing conditions do those plants require. You may want a plant that really needs a warm climate to thrive. To prevent disappointment as to why it’s not growing, try to look for a plant that fits the climate where you live.

If you want to grow a vegetable, they would need to have at least 6 hours of sun exposure. The same could be said for flowering plants. There are still lots of plants to choose from that require limited shade. You may just want to raise and groom a weed.

Also take into consideration what time the sun becomes more prominent in your garden. The sun will be hotter in the afternoon and dryer in the morning. Since most plants tend to face towards the sun, there will be times that your plants may face away from you.

You’d also need to evaluate other factors; Factors such as the heavy foot traffic or high drying winds. Now that you have decided where to put your garden get an extension cord or a hose. Using either of the two can help you further laying out the exact size and area of your planned garden.

These are only a couple of basic advices that one should consider when starting out a garden.
