The Significance Of Organic Gardening

Back in the old days, when there was no such thing as the Green Revolution and caring for the environment was considered taboo, gardening basically revolved on growing plants. But today, thanks to air pollution, the depletion of the ozone layer and the more “mature” way of thinking of today’s generation, the concept of organic gardening was born.

But what’s organic gardening is all about? Is organic gardening connected to helping cleanse the air? Or is it something more? Well, the basic definition for organic gardening is this: when you start gardening and growing plants, you should not only focus on how to make the plants grow as fast as they can but also consider the environment as a whole as well.

In organic gardening, people are advised to natural fertilizers against man-made fertilizers which could harm the environment.

How Organic Gardening Came to Be
Or rather, what led to the conclusion that organic gardening is better for all people concerned? Well, once upon a time, there was a simple process to gardening and it involved farmers using natural fertilizers such as decomposed parts of animals to make the soil more fertile. When the soil gives out, they move on to another area and start the cycle anew. These farmers later on became smarter and learned to rotate crops and leave certain areas untouched to keep the soil relatively fertile.

And then the Industrial Revolution happened and things changed as well in the gardening slash farming scene. The tractor was the biggest source of help for farmers because it made the fertilizing process easier. Unfortunately, years after that, people discovered new ways to fertilizing and it had nothing to do with anything natural and everything to do with man-made.

Why Non-Organic Gardening is Harmful
There are a lot of reasons why non-organic gardening is harmful to all things concerned but we shall try to enumerate a few to let you understand why it’s imperative to stick with organic gardening.

Chemical fertilizers kill animals such as ants and worms – animals that help till the soil and keep it fertile or healthy. Obviously, if this continues to happen, pretty soon, we might be left with barren soil and how can we proceed with any gardening plans after that?

Thanks to the chemical fertilizers and pesticides being used regularly by gardeners and farmers, water impairment is fast becoming a major problem in the United States.

Because of all those disadvantages, don’t you think you should start sticking to organic gardening as well?
